Tineco Wet Dry Vacuums: Which Model Is Right for Your Home?

Cleaning a hard floor usually involves more than one job. There is dust and pet hair to vacuum, spills to wipe up, and occasionally a dried stain that needs considerably more effort. Wet dry vacuums are designed to bring those jobs together, and Tineco has become one of the more recognizable names in this category.

I recently took a closer look at Tineco’s current floor-cleaning technology to see what separates its premium models from a regular vacuum-and-mop setup. The FLOOR ONE S9 Artist Steam stood out in particular because it combines vacuuming, floor washing, and high-temperature steam in one cordless machine.

But that does not automatically make it the right choice for every home. Here is how Tineco’s wet dry approach works, what the S9 Artist Steam offers, and where competing floor cleaners may make more sense.

A traditional vacuum is primarily designed to collect dry debris. A mop deals with spills and grime separately. Tineco’s FLOOR ONE machines combine these jobs by picking up debris while washing hard floors with a rotating roller and separate clean- and dirty-water systems.

The more interesting part is how much of the process has become automated.

Depending on the model, Tineco uses sensors to detect dirt and adjust cleaning performance, assisted movement to make larger machines easier to steer, edge-cleaning designs for areas close to walls, and automated brush cleaning after the job is finished.

This makes the category particularly relevant for homes with hard flooring where vacuuming and mopping are both regular chores.

Among Tineco’s premium floor washers, the Tineco FLOOR ONE S9 Artist Steam Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner takes the all-in-one idea further by adding steam directly to the cleaning process.

Its HyperSteam system heats internally to 320°F, while Tineco states that the steam maintains an outlet temperature of at least 210°F. That distinction matters: 320°F refers to the internal heater rather than the temperature hitting the floor.

Steam gives the S9 Artist a different role from a conventional wet-dry vacuum. Sticky kitchen residue, dried spills, and other stubborn hard-floor messes can be loosened while the machine simultaneously washes and extracts dirty water.

The cleaner also delivers rated suction of 22 kPa and offers Auto, Max, Steam, and Suction modes.

Key S9 Artist Steam Features

Actual runtime will naturally vary according to the cleaning mode and conditions.

One feature that helps distinguish Tineco’s premium models is its iLoop Smart Sensor.

Instead of requiring the same cleaning power across the entire floor, the sensor detects changing levels of dirt and allows the machine to adjust suction and water flow automatically as part of Tineco’s broader AI-powered vacuum lineup.

That is useful because household messes are rarely uniform. An open living-room floor may only need a light pass, while the space around a dining table or kitchen counter can require more attention.

Automation does not replace good cleaning technique, but it reduces the amount of manual adjustment needed as you move through different areas of the home.

This kind of responsive automation reflects how smart home technology integration is shifting modern appliances toward self-managing routines.

The S9 Artist Steam makes the most sense when its steam functionality will actually be used.

A household dealing mainly with loose crumbs and occasional spills may be perfectly well served by a less expensive wet dry cleaner. Homes regularly dealing with dried food, muddy marks, sticky kitchen floors, or similar hard-floor messes have a stronger reason to consider steam.

This is also where independent performance testing gives the S9 Artist some credibility beyond its specification sheet.

Vacuum Wars’ 2026 hard-floor testing recorded a stain score of 151 against a category average of 139. It also reported only 0.4 grams of residual water compared with a 1.01-gram average. Its combined mopping score reached 175 against a category average of 115.

Hair wrapping around a wet roller can turn an otherwise convenient floor cleaner into another appliance that needs regular manual maintenance.

The S9 Artist Steam uses Tineco’s DualBlock anti-tangle design, which combines two scraper layers to remove hair from the roller as it operates.

It will not make maintenance disappear completely, particularly in homes with long hair or several pets, but reducing the amount of hair reaching and wrapping around the roller addresses one of the more frustrating parts of owning this type of cleaner.

For pet owners, that may prove more useful day-to-day than some of the machine’s headline specifications.

A wet dry vacuum handles dirty water, food residue, dust, and hair in the same cleaning system. Leaving that material around a damp brush roller is not ideal.

After cleaning, the S9 Artist Steam can run its FlashDry self-cleaning process from the dock. The brush rotates in both directions during cleaning and is subsequently dried with 85°C hot air, with Tineco specifying a five-minute drying cycle.

You will still need to empty and maintain the machine, but automated roller cleaning and drying remove some of the messier work associated with reusable wet-cleaning equipment.

This is one of the areas where paying more for a premium floor washer can make sense. Convenience after cleaning matters almost as much as convenience during it.

The premium wet dry vacuum market is increasingly competitive. Tineco is not the only company combining intelligent controls, floor washing, assisted movement, and automated maintenance.

The important differences are therefore less about whether a machine can mop and more about how it handles difficult cleaning jobs.

Tineco vs Roborock

Roborock’s F25 Ultra is one of the stronger alternatives in the premium hard-floor category and incorporates both steam and hot-water cleaning technology.

Independent testing from Vacuum Wars found it highly competitive, but the S9 Artist Steam maintained a higher combined mopping score in its testing and left less residual water.

Roborock is therefore a genuine alternative rather than an obviously inferior product. The decision comes down to the specific features, current pricing, and cleaning priorities of the household.

Tineco vs Dreame

Dreame has become particularly competitive on value.

Models such as the Aero Pro combine strong floor washing with premium conveniences such as self-cleaning and drying. For someone who wants a capable wet dry cleaner without necessarily paying for Tineco’s flagship feature set, Dreame deserves consideration.

The S9 Artist Steam makes a stronger case when direct steam cleaning and its broader premium feature package are priorities.

Tineco vs Bissell

Bissell’s CrossWave range helped make vacuum-and-wash machines familiar to a much wider audience.

The basic idea is similar: pick up debris and wash hard floors during the same cleaning session. Tineco’s premium machines push further into automation with features such as smart dirt sensing, assisted movement, lay-flat cleaning, anti-tangle systems, and automated hot-air brush drying.

That additional technology comes with a higher price, so someone wanting a simpler floor washer may still find a CrossWave-style machine sufficient.

Not everyone needs the S9 Artist Steam.

Tineco’s wider FLOOR ONE lineup includes models built around different combinations of price, maneuverability, cleaning technology, and convenience. The S9 range itself now contains several configurations, while less expensive FLOOR ONE models provide the core vacuum-and-wash experience without every flagship feature.

That makes the buying decision easier if you start with the problem rather than the model name.

If steam cleaning is important, the S9 Artist Steam is the obvious model to examine. If the priority is simply replacing separate vacuuming and mopping sessions, a less expensive Tineco can offer much of the everyday convenience without paying for features you may rarely use.

The S9 Artist Steam is easiest to justify in a home with substantial hard flooring and regular messes that benefit from wet or steam cleaning.

It is particularly well suited to:

• Homes with children or pets where spills and tracked-in dirt are common
• Kitchens and dining areas prone to sticky or dried-on messes

Tineco’s strongest argument is not that it has reinvented vacuuming. It is that the company has removed several separate steps from hard-floor cleaning and automated parts of the process that are normally inconvenient.

Choosing the right vacuum as a smart tech upgrade comes down to how much time and effort these automated features save in your daily routine.

The S9 Artist Steam represents the premium end of that approach. Steam helps with stubborn messes, the iLoop sensor adjusts cleaning automatically, its lay-flat body improves reach, and FlashDry reduces the work required after cleaning.

Those conveniences need to be weighed against price and actual cleaning needs.

For a household that regularly vacuums and mops large hard-floor areas, combining those jobs into one machine can be genuinely useful. For a small home with limited hard flooring, the same technology can easily become more machine than necessary.

After looking beyond the specification sheet and comparing the S9 Artist Steam with the current wet dry vacuum market, its strongest quality is how well its features complement one another.

Steam alone would not make it compelling. Neither would a long battery life or an automatic cleaning dock. What makes the S9 Artist interesting is that steam, strong suction, dirt sensing, lay-flat cleaning, anti-tangle technology, edge cleaning, assisted movement, and automated maintenance are all addressing different parts of the same chore.

Independent testing also supports its position as a strong hard-floor cleaner rather than simply a feature-heavy premium appliance.

I would choose it for a home with extensive hard flooring where wet cleaning happens frequently enough to justify the convenience. For occasional kitchen cleanup or a mostly carpeted home, I would save the money and choose a simpler cleaner.

That distinction is ultimately more useful than asking whether the Tineco S9 Artist Steam is simply the “best” wet dry vacuum. It is a capable premium machine, but its value depends on how closely its strengths match the way you actually clean your home.
