Cash App Is Now a Phone Company, $40 Unlimited 5G on AT&T’s Network

Cash App has announced the pilot launch of Cash App Mobile, a $40-per-month unlimited 5G plan running on AT&T's network, built for what the fintech calls "Modern Earners" and powered by the same white-label MVNO infrastructure provider behind Klarna's mobile service.

Key Takeaways

  • Cash App Mobile is priced at $40 per month, including taxes and fees, designed for “Modern Earners,” young adults, underbanked consumers, and gig workers.
  • The plan includes unlimited talk, text, premium 5G data, unlimited HD streaming, 10GB of monthly hotspot usage in the US, and data roaming in Canada and Mexico.
  • Activation requires no long-term contracts, no credit checks, and no store visits; everything is handled through an eSIM on a compatible device.
  • A 2026 Cash App survey found 46% of US respondents reported friction when paying recurring phone bills, which the company is positioning as the problem this service solves.

Cash App is the latest non-mobile network company entering the wireless market, and it’s all based around AT&T’s network.

Today, Cash App announced the pilot launch of Cash App Mobile, an unlimited 5G phone plan. The premium plan targets Cash App’s modern earners: young adults, underbanked consumers, and gig workers who rely on connectivity to manage daily life.

Its parent company, Block, updated its terms of service on June 8, 2026, for the new mobile offering, indicating the legal and operational groundwork for a wider rollout is already in place.

The Gigs Infrastructure Behind the $40 Price Point

As cited by the Verge, Cash App’s new MVNO comes from a partnership with Gigs, a Y Combinator–backed MVNE-style startup that provides white-label MVNO offerings to any company.

Cash App Mobile is powered by Gigs, the same infrastructure behind Klarna’s mobile service, which launched in June 2025 at the same $40 price point. Sezzle followed with its own connectivity offering in February 2026.

Fintech companies like Klarna (US) and Lendable (UK) have offered $40/month unlimited plans via Gigs’ white-label platform, and with a formal Gigs-AT&T partnership, more brands are joining in. Notably, Klarna aims to expand to the UK as well, rivaling top local MVNOs

Cash App is not building its own wireless infrastructure; it is renting AT&T’s network through a layer that lets any consumer app become a carrier with minimal engineering.

Since Boost Mobile also uses AT&T towers alongside its own native buildout to offer nationwide coverage across the US, Cash App is entering a proven, highly reliable network space while avoiding the massive overhead of managing physical telecom towers.

What’s Actually in the Plan, and Who It’s For

In addition to unlimited 5G, the plan includes unlimited talk and text, unlimited HD streaming, 10GB of monthly hotspot data in the US, and roaming in Canada and Mexico.

By utilizing AT&T’s massive network footprint, the service aims to provide subscribers with some of the best cellphone coverage available across the country without the typical carrier price tag

“Modern Earners deserve mobile service that works as hard as they do. They’re building their futures, managing multiple income streams, and every dollar matters,” said Owen Jennings, Executive Officer and Head of Business at Cash App.

Cash App noted that millions of users already use the Cash App Card to pay phone bills, making mobile service a natural extension of the platform.

The company has also confirmed plans to integrate the service with Cash App Green and Cash App Families, its suite of tools for managing supervised child and teen accounts.

The launch is currently in a limited pilot phase, with broader availability expected in the coming months.
