IBM Unveils New Power11 Software and Infrastructure to Simplify Enterprise AI Operations
IBM has introduced several additions to its Power11 ecosystem, including autonomous system management software, AI-assisted IBM i development tools, and a new compact Power11 server aimed at organizations running enterprise AI workloads.

ARMONK, N.Y., July 15, 2026 — IBM (NYSE: IBM) today expanded its Power platform with new autonomous operations software, AI-assisted application development capabilities for IBM i, and the Power S1112 system, extending Power11 with new automation, development, and infrastructure capabilities for enterprise AI workloads.
The announcement introduces IBM Power Autonomous Operations, the IBM Bob™ Premium Package for i, the entry-level IBM Power S1112 server, and a new support offering for the Power S1112 through IBM Technology Lifecycle Services.
The new offerings build on the Power11 platform introduced last year, extending IBM’s autonomous IT strategy across system operations, software development, and edge infrastructure.
Together, they are designed to help enterprises simplify infrastructure management, modernize business-critical applications, and support AI workloads while maintaining operational resilience across on-premises and IBM Cloud environments.
As enterprises deploy more AI across business operations, technology teams face growing demands to manage increasingly complex infrastructure. IBM’s 2026 Tech Leader Study projects organizations will deploy an average of 1,661 AI agents by 2027, while the IBM Institute for Business Value’s Enterprise 2030 study highlights the need for IT environments capable of scaling and optimizing AI-driven operations.
These additions extend AI-driven automation across the IBM Power platform to help organizations manage that growing complexity.
Expanding Autonomous Operations Across IBM Power
IBM Power Autonomous Operations introduces an embedded AI agent that continuously monitors IBM Power environments and helps automate routine system management.
The software identifies capacity constraints, recommends corrective actions, and supports remediation through a human-in-the-loop approval process.
During IBM internal testing conducted in a controlled environment of 11 IBM Power systems, Power Autonomous Operations resolved capacity-related issues up to 15 times faster than a comparable manual process.
Administrators can manage IBM Power environments through natural language prompts, simplifying routine operational tasks and reducing reliance on deep platform expertise. The platform is designed to reduce operational overhead while helping improve system availability and infrastructure performance.
IBM also expanded AI-assisted software development for IBM i with the IBM Bob Premium Package for i. Built on the IBM Bob development assistant, the package delivers agentic software development lifecycle capabilities that support IBM i conventions throughout application modernization.
It helps engineers understand complex RPG applications, accelerate code changes, generate documentation, and enable more developers to maintain IBM i environments. Early adopter Heartland Co-op estimates the platform reduced the time required for new developers to understand complex applications by approximately 60%.
Introducing a Compact Power11 System for Enterprise AI
IBM also introduced the IBM Power S1112, a one-socket Power11 server designed for organizations that require a compact, on-premises platform capable of running AI inference locally.
The system uses Power11 Matrix Math Acceleration (MMA) to support AI workloads at the edge while continuing to run traditional enterprise applications on the same infrastructure.
The IBM Power S1112 delivers up to two times better core performance than the IBM Power S914 and up to three times better core performance than the IBM Power S814, based on published Commercial Performance Workload (CPW) benchmark results.
The system also provides up to 69% greater performance per watt than the Power S914, based on published performance and power consumption calculations.
To support the new system, IBM Technology Lifecycle Services introduced IBM Power Expert Care Premium Essentials, an incident-focused support tier available exclusively for the IBM Power S1112. The service provides priority access to IBM specialists, faster response times, and intelligent support automation to help organizations maintain business-critical workloads.

Availability
The IBM Power S1112 is expected to become generally available on July 24, 2026. IBM Power Autonomous Operations is expected to become generally available on September 23, 2026.
The IBM Bob Premium Package for i became generally available on June 24, 2026. Future product direction and availability remain subject to change without notice.
