Anthropic Launches Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion as OpenAI Battles Over AI Trust
Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion on Thursday, building live data views and editable animations where every chart traces back to its source query.

Anthropic launched Claude Dashboards and Claude Motion in beta on Thursday, giving its Claude users two new ways to turn plain-language requests into visual output.
Claude Dashboards connects to a company’s data platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, or a CRM tool like Salesforce, and builds a live dashboard from a question like “how does this week’s signups compare with last month’s.”
The dashboard updates automatically as the underlying data changes, and each chart displays when it was last refreshed.
Claude Motion turns prompts into short animated explainers built from the user’s own text, charts, and images rather than generated video.
Every Chart Comes With Its Receipts
The detail that separates Claude Dashboards from a chart generated by simple chatbots is auditability.
Click any number on a Claude-built dashboard, and it shows the exact query behind that figure, or a user can simply ask Claude to explain how it arrived at the result, as Anthropic notes.
Designed for fast exploratory questions rather than final reports, these dashboards include a direct handoff: export data to Amplitude, Grafana, Hex, Mixpanel, or Tableau for deeper analysis, with Looker and monday.com support coming soon.
The underlying design philosophy is that speed shouldn’t come at the cost of knowing where a number actually came from.
Animation Without the Deepfake Problem
Claude Motion takes a similar stance on a different kind of trust question.
Rather than generating AI video footage, it writes code animating user-supplied text, charts, shapes, and images, avoiding synthetic footage or AI-generated people.
As the company details, every word, number, and timing in the resulting animation stays editable afterward, and users can open the finished piece in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Luma AI, or Runway if they want to extend it further.
That’s a notably narrower, more conservative design choice than competitors building general-purpose AI video generators, and it’s clearly intentional rather than a limitation Anthropic is working around.
Beyond design updates, Anthropic also took Claude Docs, Slides, and Design out of beta, making them free on every plan, after users built more than 45 million documents, decks, and designs since launch.
Two Companies, One Week, Two Different Bets on Trust
The timing here is hard to separate from context. One day earlier, OpenAI rolled out GPT-6’s Intelligent UI, letting ChatGPT build interactive tools on the fly, but forcing users to blindly trust unreviewed generated software without a review process behind it.
Claude’s dashboard launch reads like a direct answer to exactly that criticism: instead of a black-box tool that simply works or doesn’t, Anthropic built in a visible audit trail; every number traceable to its query, every chart timestamped to its last refresh.
Both companies are racing toward AI that builds interfaces, but making different bets on trust. OpenAI bets speed and convenience carry the day; Anthropic bets that the company letting you check its work is the one people keep coming back to.
