Garmin Launches CIRQA, a Screen-Free Health and Fitness Tracker
Garmin unveiled the CIRQA Smart Band, a subscription-free, screenless wearable priced at $199.99 that aims to challenge Whoop and Google's Fitbit Air.

Garmin is betting people want fewer screens, not more.
The company officially announced the CIRQA Smart Band on Tuesday, its first screen-free smart wearable built for round-the-clock health and fitness tracking without requiring a subscription, as Garmin notes.
The device enters an increasingly crowded category that already includes Whoop’s band and Google’s Fitbit Air. CIRQA is reportedly priced above the Fitbit Air but positions itself as a more capable, ecosystem-connected alternative to Whoop’s subscription model.
What CIRQA Tracks and How It Works
Garmin designed the band to stay out of the way while tracking health and activity all day and night, with up to 10 days of battery life and instant data in the Garmin Connect app.
Susan Lyman, Garmin’s vice president of consumer sales and marketing, said the company created CIRQA for people passionate about staying healthy and active.
The screen-free band automatically detects and records activities, and as users confirm or edit them in Garmin Connect, it learns to identify future activities more accurately, a buzzing trend in wearable technology.
It comes with a fabric strap in seven colors and can be worn on the wrist or upper arm.
CIRQA tracks wrist-based heart rate, Body Battery energy, Pulse Ox, stress, skin temperature, and women’s health, including menstrual cycle and pregnancy tracking, period predictions, and ovulation estimates.
Users can also sync this data with the FDA-cleared Natural Cycles birth control app, as Garmin officially confirmed.
Sleep tracking includes sleep stages, a nightly sleep score, heart rate variability, respiration, and nap detection.
Built for Fitness, Not Just Recovery
Beyond health tracking, CIRQA offers more dedicated training features than many screen-free rivals, aiming to stand out among the best fitness gadgets on the market.
Garmin says users can manually track more than 80 activities using the band’s single side button, while advanced features include Training Readiness, HRV Status, VO2 Max, Training Status, and recovery time insights.
Forbes notes the physical button is unusual for a screen-free tracker, as most competitors have no physical controls, and it can quickly start a favorite activity.
CIRQA is also water-resistant up to 5ATM, making it suitable for swimming but not diving, and can broadcast heart rate data to gym equipment or platforms like Zwift.
Forbes adds that it uses the almost same Elevate sensor array found in Garmin’s Vivoactive 5, such as the Forerunner 170, rather than the advanced sensors in flagship models like the Fenix 8.
Price, Availability, and the Competitive Landscape
CIRQA is priced at $199.99 and includes all core features without a subscription, though Garmin’s optional Connect+ plan adds a workout library, advanced coaching, guided breathing exercises, and LiveTrack sharing.
Forbes reports the band has a fiber-reinforced polymer case, weighs 14.8 grams, and uses a 24mm strap that’s wider than the Fitbit Air’s 18mm band, adding a fresh dynamic to the ongoing Garmin vs. Fitbit rivalry.
Google’s Fitbit Air costs $99 with an optional subscription, while Whoop 5.0 requires an ongoing membership.
Garmin Connect+ costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. CIRQA also offers up to 10 days of battery life, placing it between the Fitbit Air’s one week and the Whoop 5.0’s nearly two weeks per charge. It will be available to order starting July 24.
