How to Evaluate an AI Referral Program Before You Make an Introduction

The SourceX AI referral program lets you earn 25% of a qualifying company's actual data licensing payout, up to $100,000, when all referral and payment conditions are met.

An AI referral offer is easy to notice when the headline includes a large reward. Deciding whether to introduce a business takes more work.

You should be able to explain what the company is being invited to consider, why it may qualify, and what has to happen before you are paid. If those answers are clear, the introduction can become a sensible business conversation.

Company fit, payout base, attribution and payment conditions each deserve a clear review before a referral.

SourceX’s programme provides a useful example. It connects qualifying company introductions with business data licensing for AI training and evaluation. The potential supplier is the business; the partner is the person making the eligible introduction.

Understand the Calculation Base

The SourceX company referral program offers a standard reward of 25% of the actual supplier compensation SourceX pays a qualifying referred company, capped at $100,000 cumulatively per company, subject to its terms.

Use actual supplier compensation paid, not a deal estimate or buyer budget.

That base is important. It is not 25% of an estimate, a buyer’s budget or SourceX’s fees. Separately itemised taxes and expense reimbursements are excluded.

For illustration, a $40,000 actual supplier payout would imply a $10,000 reward at the standard rate if all conditions were met. A $400,000 payout would reach the standard $100,000 cap. A larger payout would not automatically increase that cap, and a renewal does not automatically restart it.

These figures explain the formula. They do not describe typical transactions or predicted earnings. Signed agreements can set different terms.

Find Out Who Can Qualify

The referral materials look for companies with at least 50 full-time employees at peak, excluding contractors, along with operating history and rights to license the selected records. They also specify eligible geographic markets and, for some markets, an English-language data threshold.

A useful shortlist starts with operating facts and the person able to discuss them.

This is enough to make an initial list more focused. A friend’s small side project is different from an established company with mature systems and an authorised owner willing to discuss its records.

Companies already using AI in their business operations may also have established data management processes, although their eligibility still depends on SourceX’s specific requirements.

You do not need to know the records’ value before an introduction. You should know why the company came to mind and which facts still need checking.

Acquired or wound-down companies may be considered, but someone must be able to establish who controls the relevant records and rights. Closure does not remove contractual restrictions.

Distinguish a Referral From a Data Handoff

An introduction connects the company with SourceX. It does not authorise you to send the company’s records or grant a licence on its behalf.

This distinction matters because generative AI security risks, including confidential data exposure and unauthorised access, make proper oversight essential when business records are involved.

The SourceX data licensing platform describes a process for assessing fit, defining scope, reviewing rights, preparing records and agreeing delivery. The company reviews the proposed licence before authorising release.

The agreement can include significant duration and exclusivity terms. A sensible introduction gives leadership a chance to evaluate those provisions. It does not promise that applying is the same as accepting a deal.

An initial message can therefore stay simple: explain the category of opportunity, disclose your potential reward and ask whether the authorised person would welcome a connection. Leave confidential attachments out of that conversation.

Check Attribution Before Relying on it

SourceX’s terms provide one credited eligible partner per company and a 90-day attribution window for the first valid introduction leading to a verified application. Dated evidence and pre-existing relationships matter. An earlier link click alone does not decide credit.

The first valid introduction must lead to a verified application under the attribution rules.

Companies with an existing SourceX application or relationship, or an earlier valid introduction, may be excluded as duplicates. Read the rules before assuming that a familiar company is available to refer.

New partners also need an approved account and must sign the required channel partner agreement before submitting introductions. Complete that step before treating an informal introduction as covered by the programme.

Understand What Makes the Reward Payable

A lead, meeting or signed agreement alone does not trigger payment. Conditions include buyer acceptance, cleared buyer payment, payment of the underlying supplier compensation, finance approval and the partner’s required payment and tax details.

Understand the required conditions and the published programme timetable.

The programme sets out a timetable tied to validated approval and completed dataset handoff, with those conditions also required. Read the actual terms rather than translating the headline into an assumption about immediate cash flow.

SourceX says the reward is paid separately and does not reduce the supplier’s agreed compensation. If you are advising the company, explain your potential interest and check any restrictions attached to your professional role, employment or client relationship.

Give Yourself one Practical Test

Choose a company in your network and write down its approximate peak full-time headcount, years of operation, relevant systems and authorised decision-maker. Mark anything you do not know.

Then ask whether you can explain the opportunity honestly in a short conversation. If the company may fit and the owner welcomes an introduction, you have a concrete next step.

A large headline can attract attention. A clear, well-chosen introduction is what gives the opportunity a chance to become a real transaction.
