Nvidia and LG Group Build a Joint AI Factory, Covering Humanoid Robots and Autonomous Driving

Nvidia and LG Group announced a joint AI factory partnership that integrates Nvidia's full-stack computing infrastructure with LG's electronics, robotics, energy, and telecommunications divisions.

Key Takeaways

  • The AI factory will train, simulate, and deploy AI across robotics, autonomous driving, and GPU cloud services.
  • A physical AI data factory uses NVIDIA Cosmos models to generate synthetic training data for robotics systems.
  • Multiple divisions are building NVIDIA DSX-aligned AI factories combining accelerated computing with telecom, energy, and logistics infrastructure.
  • EXAONE development involves NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, NeMo framework, and TensorRT-LLM for advanced inference optimization.

NVIDIA and LG Group are building an AI factory to accelerate LG Group’s next wave of AI-driven businesses, spanning robotics, autonomous driving, data center technologies, and GPU cloud services.

Announced on June 7, 2026, the partnership is not a single product integration but a group-wide infrastructure commitment involving LG Electronics, LG Innotek, LG CNS, LG Uplus, and LG Energy Solution.

The deal signals LG’s shift toward NVIDIA’s physical AI stack as a core computing layer for future products, from the home robot category displayed at CES to next-generation data center battery systems.

Consumer Robotics and the NVIDIA GR00T Ecosystem

The most visible consumer-facing element is LG Electronics’ CLOiD home robot, unveiled at CES 2026, featuring two articulated arms, seven degrees of freedom per arm, and five actuated fingers per hand, built for LG’s “Zero Labor Home” vision of autonomous household robotics.

By integrating NVIDIA Isaac Sim and NVIDIA Isaac Lab open robotics frameworks into their development workflows, LG can simulate, train, and validate these home cobots in physically accurate virtual environments before deployment.

LG Electronics is also exploring the use of the NVIDIA Isaac GR00T open reasoning vision-action language model for both its home robots and modular robotics platforms, echoing the broader embodied AI push and providing humanlike reasoning.

NVIDIA and LG Electronics additionally plan to jointly develop reference robots, positioning LG’s hardware directly within the NVIDIA Isaac GR00T ecosystem.

Industrial AI Transformation and Cosmos Data Factories

LG Electronics is developing a physical AI data factory using NVIDIA Cosmos world foundation models for synthetic data generation and augmentation, turning compute into high-quality training data for robotics and industrial AI projects across Korean and global companies.

LG Innotek, drawing on its optical engineering capabilities, will provide sensing solutions specifically optimized for NVIDIA’s development environments and GPU architecture, aligning with NVIDIA’s massive investment in optics.

LG CNS is integrating NVIDIA’s Isaac open robotics frameworks, Cosmos open world models, and Isaac GR00T robotic foundation models into its PhysicalWorks industrial robot platform, accelerating the AI transformation of logistics and manufacturing floors.

AI Factory Infrastructure and Autonomous Driving Ecosystems

Beyond its certification cooperation with NVIDIA on cooling solutions for AI factory thermal management, including cooling distribution units and cold plates, LG Electronics is expanding its AI factory capabilities.

This includes collaboration on prefabricated modular design technologies aligned with the NVIDIA DSX AI factory platform.

LG Uplus plans to build a large-scale AI data center to host the latest NVIDIA GPUs. Meanwhile, LG Energy Solution will collaborate with NVIDIA on 800-volt direct current data center energy solutions, aligned with NVIDIA’s BESS Self-Qualification guidelines.

In mobility, LG Electronics will align its advanced driver-assistance systems and in-vehicle AI with the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion architecture, focusing on sensor, compute, and software integration for autonomous driving and software-defined vehicles.

It also plans to use NVIDIA DRIVE AGX accelerated compute for future applications, including AI-powered cockpits and edge AI processing.

Sovereign AI Transformation and EXAONE Model Deployment

The sovereign AI dimension of the partnership connects all of this at the model layer.

NVIDIA and LG AI Research are collaborating to advance EXAONE, LG Group’s open model family available to developers, enterprises, and researchers.

This work leverages the trillion-dollar Blackwell architecture, the NeMo framework, and TensorRT-LLM to build high-performance inference engines for optimised deployment.

LG Group is also exploring broader adoption of EXAONE across its businesses through ChatEXAONE, its enterprise chatbot service, as part of an AI transformation strategy that now runs from the living room robot to the data center backbone.
