Multiple Claude 5 Models Affected

According to Anthropic’s latest status update, the issue was first identified after users experienced elevated error rates when sending requests to several of its flagship AI models.

At 07:05 UTC, the company said it had identified the underlying cause and was working on a fix.

A subsequent update at 09:13 UTC said engineers were continuing work on a fix. At 13:08 UTC, Anthropic confirmed a fix had been deployed and said it was monitoring service recovery.

The disruption affects multiple models simultaneously, including Claude Mythos 5, Fable 5, Opus 5, and Sonnet 5, making it broader than some of the company’s recent model-specific outages.

Notably, this outage arrives just days after the arch-rival ChatGPT also suffered a brief but widespread outage.

Latest Incident Follows a String of Recent Outages

The latest disruption follows several service incidents recorded on Anthropic’s status page over the past two days.

On August 3, the company resolved degraded performance affecting Claude Sonnet 5, while August 4 brought repeated elevated error rates and a broader outage that temporarily disrupted Claude.ai and Claude Code logins through OAuth.

Although Anthropic has not linked the incidents, the latest outage marks the fourth consecutive day the company has reported service issues affecting its AI platform.

Users Report Failed Responses and Login Issues

Alongside Anthropic’s official updates, users reported requests stalling before displaying a “This response didn’t load” message.

NogenTech independently reproduced the issue when Claude failed to respond to a prompt requesting movie recommendations. Other users also reported failed logins, unresponsive chats, and prompt submission errors.

Downdetector also recorded a sharp spike in user reports during the disruption, though the platform reflects user-submitted reports rather than the underlying technical cause.

Anthropic has not confirmed each reported symptom as part of the incident.

As of publication, Anthropic says it has deployed a fix and is monitoring service recovery. The incident remains active on its status page while the company verifies that services have fully stabilized.
