UF Apps Guide – How to Access on Mac, Windows & Mobile (2025)

The most interesting thing is that it’s free for UF students and staff with a GatorLink account.

Desktop Client – Mac and Windows

1. Install the VMware Horizon Client: First, download the VMware Horizon client provided by UFIT and install it on your computer. 
2. Connect to the UF Network: If you are not on campus, then you have to connect to the UF network using the UF VPN. 
3. Open the Horizon Client: Launch the installed VMware Horizon client. 
4. Add the UF Apps Server: After that, you have to add the server to the client. And for that, click “Add Server” and enter the URL: “portal.apps.ufl.edu”. 
5. Log in: For logging in, enter your GatorLink username and password. 
6. Select a Desktop Workspace: After that, you will have a list in front of you. Choose the desired desktop workspace from the list presented. 
7. Access Applications: Applications are available through the Start menu within the chosen desktop workspace.

Mobile Client Setup

• Install the VMware Horizon Client: Download the client from your respective app store (iOS or Android). 
• Connect to the UF Network: If you are off campus, connect to the UF network using the UF VPN. 
• Open the Horizon Client: Launch the installed VMware Horizon client. 
• Add the UF Apps Server: In the client, click “Add Server” and enter the URL: portal.apps.ufl.edu. 
• Log in: Enter your GatorLink username and password. 
• Select a Workspace: Choose the workspace from the list.
• Access Applications: Then you just have to access the application, which will be available in the selected workspace.
• Consider the Canvas Student App (for Students): For accessing course materials, consider the Canvas Student app. And this is available for both iOS and Android.
