Google’s AI Mode Goes Global: A New Era of Search Begins
Searching for something urgent on Google and surprisingly found this shiny and amazing “AI Mode” option in the search bar?
It is Google’s new AI Mode with new agentic features to make search easier and more efficient.
Google has officially launched its AI Mode in Search across more than 180 countries, marking a major milestone in the evolution of how people interact with the web. Previously available only in the U.S., U.K., and India, this AI Mode expansion brings Google’s conversational, task-oriented search experience to millions of new users. However, for now, it’s limited to devices in English.
What Is AI Mode?
AI Mode is Google’s new search feature integrated into the search bar to transform traditional search into a dynamic, dialogue-based experience.
Now you can ask complex questions, get personalized recommendations, and even complete tasks like booking restaurant reservations, right in the Google search interface.
Agentic Features
The most exciting upgrade is the rollout of agentic capabilities, powered by Google’s experimental Project Mariner. This allows AI Mode to perform real-world tasks on your behalf.
For example:
- You can ask Google to find a dinner spot based on your preferences (e.g., “vegetarian, outdoor seating, NYC, 7 PM tonight”).
- The AI will search across platforms like OpenTable and Resy, check availability, and present bookable options.
Personalized Search Gets Smarter
AI Mode now integrates data from Google Maps, Knowledge Graph, and your past interactions to deliver hyper-personalized results. If you’ve previously searched for sushi in Lahore, expect similar suggestions next time you ask for a lunch spot.
Shareable Conversations
Another new feature is the ability to share AI Mode chats. Planning a trip or organizing a birthday party? You can send your AI-generated search results to friends, who can jump in and ask follow-up questions.
What’s Next?
Google has a plan to expand AI Mode to more languages and introduce additional agentic tasks, such as booking local services and purchasing event tickets.
With this global rollout, Google is redefining what it means to “search.” It’s no longer just about finding information; it’s about getting things done in real time, and for users worldwide, that’s a game-changer.
Want to try it out? Just go to Google Search and look for the AI Mode toggle. If your device language is set to English, you might already have access.
