Why Samsung Galaxy S6 May Be The Best Phone Available Right Now?

When Apple beat Samsung in Q4 2014 in terms of sales revenue, it seemed that the South Korean electronics major will have to bring forth a new device to do something groundbreaking for its image. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge seem to be almost the devices meant to put the company back on track. So what are the features that make these new devices almost better than the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus? We will check a few of these features in this post.

Aesthetics and Ergonomics

There were always rumors and claims that Samsung was copying design elements from the iPhone. But with the Galaxy S6 that age-old story for Samsung critics has gone down under the bed. The reason’s simple – the S6/S6 Edge have entirely new and unique design cues, which don’t trace back anything to any of the iPhones. The only tradeoff is that you will not be able to remove that battery now.

Aluminium alloy bands along the sides, and the smoother gorilla glass 4 on both the front and rear, make it look and feel like a flagship device. some of the color options have a dual tone to them – making them appear in different tones based on how light falls on the surface. When it comes to ergonomics, Samsung kept it light and slim, but it will still feel solid. Even though it fields a 5.1-inch display, you will not feel it to be heavier than the iPhone.

Hardware

Featuring a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 CPU, the Galaxy S6 may be a tough contender for the title of the fastest Android phone. There’s 3GB RAM to support the processor and storage configurations available in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. The Korean company made a major deviation from its traditional microSD support configuration by eliminating it this time. That could be of concern to some Galaxy fans, but if Apple doesn’t bother Samsung can also take a few chances.

There’s a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel secondary lens. Double-press the home button and the camera will be launched. Interestingly, the camera has a tiny, 2mm protrusion. The camera can capture a splendid amount of detailing and has several features for low light photo capturing. It’s a better camera than what the iPhone 6 yields, but the LG G3 still has a faster lens. The Optical Image Stabilization feature helps you capture stunning pictures in low light, even without using flash.

Display

The Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED, 1440×2560-pixel display with 577ppi density. It’s incredibly brilliant and one of the best mobile phone screens. Again, the LG G3 is the only device that could come closer, but the S6’s display is still better.

Operating System / UI

The Galaxy S6 is shipped with Android 5.0 L and a better and more streamlined TouchWiz UI. The multi-window function is a splendid example of the power the new Android phone wields. You can open 2 apps at the same time and use them by dragging them from the top left corner. The HTC One M9 is the only device that comes close to the Galaxy S6 in terms of power and smooth interface.

Battery Life

Samsung downgraded its battery to a 2,550 mAh pack from the Galaxy S5’s slightly larger, removable battery. You can lose up to 20% the charge before noon, but with this fast charging system, it can achieve almost 35% of the charge within 15 minutes. It takes around 1 hour 20 minutes to fully charge the device from 0%. The Galaxy S6 Edge fields a 2,600 mAh battery.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S6 series is arguably the best smartphone currently available. The iPhone 6 may have broken all sales records for Apple, but the nearest technical contenders to the S6 are still HTC One M9 and LG G3.
