Identifying the Web’s Bad Bots

Nearly half of web traffic is created due to artificial intelligence, or bots. While a few of these may be helpful in procuring information while moving around the web, many bots are not a friend to the average user. Impersonators are one such example. These bots are used to steal information via fake accounts while the person on the other end of the bluff is no more the wiser that he or she is dealing with a non-human. Spam bots are also problematic as they collect data and promote links to spam. These bots often obtain the information with the use of forms that are easily confused with legitimate ones.
